About Us
Fisherman Direct – From our Boat to You
Owned and operated by Daryl & Gigi Egan, The C.F.V. Iron Maiden specializes in Wild Queen Charlotte Salmon, Northern BC Jumbo Shrimp and Albacore Tuna from off shore Pacific waters. Our number one priority is to provide the very best quality and value for our customers by using the captains 30 years of fishing experience and the first mate's attention to detail. We guarantee our product meets or exceeds the highest standard of seafood sold anywhere in the world! We accomplish this by harvesting our catch in just the right location, at just the right time of the season and handling each fish, one at a time. Like so many other fabulous BC resources, the best is typically exported overseas. However, this is your opportunity to access Export Quality seafood direct from the fisherman.

About Daryl & Gigi
Chief Engineer, navigator, weatherman, cook (oh no – not Kraft & wieners again!) and last, but not certainly not least, Fisherman, the CFV Iron Maiden is captained by Daryl Egan, 3rd generation commercial fisherman. Daryl's father had the foresight in the mid-70's to build one of the first commercial freezer trollers on the pacific coast thus giving Daryl an early beginning in the harvesting of ‘Frozen at Sea' – a specialized fishery. Daryl serves as a director of the North Coast Troll Advisory Committee and is a founding member of the BC Shrimp Trawlers Fisherman Association. He passionately acts as a liaison between environmental organizations and industry to help facilitate sustainable fishing methods and ensure that as fishermen, we are good stewards of the very resource that provides our livelihood. |

Deckhand, fishmonger and tour guide (she's steered the crew into more inlets and explorable harbours than Capt. Vancouver), first mate Gigi enthusiastically fishes along side Daryl. Given the choice of land or sea, undoubtedly the sea wins every time. This city girl discovered, when signing her marriage license that a fishing license was included and thus began an exciting adventure and passionate love of the history, geography and people of the BC Coast. Keeping the ships logs as well as her own personal journal, Gigi has compiled some entertaining accounts of life aboard a fishing vessel. She serves as a director of the BC Salmon Marketing Council, Canadian Highly Migratory Species Foundation (tuna) and Victoria Fisherman's Association.

About the CFV Iron Maiden
Some folks guess that she was named after the heavy metal rock band of the ‘80's. Others have guessed she was named after the mid-evil torture device. Well, on some days she certainly can be either! But to lay this question to rest, she's a 42-foot steel (hence ‘Iron') Troller built in 1990. With a beam (width) of 16 feet and a draft (depth under water) of 8 feet she is a fabulous sea boat and takes care of her crew well. The fuel capacity enables the crew to remain off shore for up to 3 weeks at a time. Her fish hold, which is actually a huge industrial freezer, can pack between 25-30,000 lbs. Cruising speed is 8kts which means it takes 80 hours to reach Prince Rupert from our homeport of Victoria, BC.
